A twirl of Christmas cheer for your table
I've been so busy with crocheting orders, planning and organising our own Christmas I haven't actually stopped to enjoy it. So I've made these gorgeous table placemats, one as a gift and one as an actual mat for our tabletop Scandinavian Christmas tree to sit on. These were like being wrapped up in a moment of Christmas magic. I hope you find a little bit of magic in making these too.

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as tr), 2 tr in next ch 1 sp, ch 1. 3 tr in next ch 1 sp, ch 1 repeat around, join with sl st.
Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as tr), 3 tr in next ch 1 sp, ch 1. 3 tr in next ch 1 sp, ch 1 repeat around, join with sl st. Continue increasing in this pattern until the circle reaches 30cm diameter.
Tip: let your hands work slowly, and don’t worry if your circle takes a few extra rounds to feel just right.
Scalloped Edge (optional):
Ch 1, sc in same st, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 1 st, sc in next st, repeat around for a pretty scalloped finish.
Helpful tips
- Work loosely for a flat placemat
- Adjust hook size to change texture or size
- Use stitch markers if you like a little extra guidance especially as your circle grows
